This project was designed and built in 2006 to take advantage of the bear viewing opportunities at a beautiful site on Gunnuk Creek near the hatchery facility. Visitors to Kake will be able to get a first hand look at the bears in action as they maneuver and compete for the ready and abundant supply of salmon available in the summer and fall months.

Additionally, the proximity of the viewing platform area to the hatchery itself will encourage the visitors to stop by the hatchery and learn more about the important role the hatchery plays in the economy of Kake and local fisheries.
